Here at One Stop Horse Shop, we like to be as transparent as possible. So we are aiming to solve some of the mysteries or questions you may have, about the purchasing process from us.
In this Frequently Asked Question - Number 1 - we will attempt to demystify our shipping timeframes...
The first thing to know, is that we can't possibly keep every single product, in every single size and colour, in stock at all times. Stock in our Smythesdale store comes and goes constantly, and therefore stock levels are forever changing. We also don't want to order in 20 of one particular item in a particular colour, only to find that everyone prefers a different colour (as an example).
So in order to still provide such a massively useful range to a broad selection of customers, we often have many products listed on our website, that we don't necessarily keep in stock, all the time.
When an order is placed online therefore, some items may be in stock and available for immediate dispatch, and others may need to be ordered in.
Generally, we try to place stock orders with our suppliers, only once per week. This usually occurs each Monday. Therefore, if you place an order on Tuesday or Wednesday, there is a chance that it won't be until the following week that it will get ordered in.
Depending on the supplier, items can take anywhere between 2 business days, and 10 business days to arrive in to store. Once an ordered item arrives in, we always do our best to ship them straight out to you (ie: within 24 hours).
HOW DO I KNOW HOW LONG ITEMS WILL TAKE TO BE SHIPPED?
So how do you know what items are in stock, and what needs to be ordered? It's really quite simple! On each and every product listed on our website, there is an 'Availability' tag, right under the product title.
This 'Availability' tag will have:
- Shipped next business day (if an item should be in stock)
- Shipped in 2 - 5 business days (may need to be ordered in)
- Shipped in 3 - 10 business days (may need to be ordered in)
- SPECIAL ORDER: Shipped in 5 - 10 business days (will definitely need to be ordered in!).
Please take note that this information, is a rough indication only. Unfortunately, despite how hard WE work to get orders out to you as quickly as we can - our suppliers timeframes can vary widely in getting stock to us, depending on their workload at any given point in time. Combine that with the fact that we are in a regional town, and couriers can quite often be a little unpredictable too.
We are CLOSED on TUESDAYS!
Please note that our Smythesdale shop, and the entire business, is CLOSED on Tuesdays, each week. As we are open all weekend, and we are a family owned and operated business, we take one day off each week (Tuesdays) to spend some down-time as a family.
This means if you ring our shop phone number, it won't be answered. If you email or message us on Facebook, it won't generally be answered until Wednesday. And orders aren't processed or posted on a Tuesday.

We use Australia Post to ship out all our orders - across Australia and worldwide!
Generally - Express Post (within Australia) means you will get your parcel (once stock is available) within 1 - 2 business days.
Regular or standard post (within Australia) means you will get your parcel (once stock is available) within 2 - 6 business days.
International time frames vary greatly, and will depend entirely on where in the world you are.

It's frustrating when suppliers and couriers slow things down, but we are always working hard to continually improve things - and generally once products arrive in store, they are shipped out immediately - often the same day if we can manage it :)
We do endeavour to send you an email to let you know when there will be delays - but occasionally this gets missed, when we are really flat out. Our priority is always on packing and shipping orders each day.
