The winter wonder product for mud fever - Savvy Touch Mud Balm

One Stop Horse Shop have been huge lovers of the Savvy Touch products for many years.  These natural wonder products are made in New Zealand and have proven to be extremely successful and popular for making the lives of our horses (and us!) much more comfortable and enjoyable.  These products can be used on people, horses, farm animals and pets!

Savvy Touch Mud Balm

In winter, Mud Balm is one of our biggest sellers.  If you have been struggling with all the rain and mud lately, resulting in mud fever or greasy heel then Mud Balm might just be the solution.  Mud fever can be one of the most annoying and uncomfortable conditions for your horse, especially if you just can't avoid them standing in mud.  Mud Balm however can help kill bacterial and fungal infections, heal and soothe the skin and protect your horses legs from further infection.

One of our retirees currently living the life of luxury in the One Stop Horse Shop paddocks, is 'Something Irish'.  Irish is a grey, 17hh thoroughbred and retired professional showjumper who has always been prone to extreme mud fever with ridiculously sensitive pink skin.  After trying every remedy known to man (including vet treatment) over the years, we discovered Mud Balm.  The Mud Balm magically cleared up his mud fever and with continued daily maintenance it has stayed away for the past three years (despite standing in very wet, boggy paddocks in SE Melbourne).  Irish used to hate having any other ointment applied and the crazy regime of bandaging, but now stands perfectly still for his Mud Balm to be applied (no bandaging required but it can be useful in extreme cases)!  We have received many other similar success stories from our customers over the years, so for us it is a winner!

Contains: tea tree oil, coconut oil and 1% copper sulphate in a soothing and protective base.

Apply to the affected area once or twice a day to treat active mud fever or use once a day in wet conditions as a preventative.  A little goes a long way, so whilst the tub might seem expensive ($50) it can last several months.  To aid healing, you can also use some Savvy Touch Skin Smoothie over the top or in between Mud Balm applications (TIP: Skin Smoothie is also awesome as a hand cream or body moisturiser for seriously dry skin!).
